Bedroom Style

After a year in the new house- it’s time to talk about our bedroom style

After living in the new house for a year, we decided to go with the new fancy schmancy adjustable bed. This purchase wasn’t just because I wanted to look amazing, sitting up in bed while reading, but because I actually do have a hip issue and need relief while sleeping. We traded up from having a queen size bed to a king, so this meant we also needed a new bed. Our bedroom furniture is still available at Ashley if we had wanted to go with the matching king size bed, but I wanted something different.

The furniture is a matching set of espresso pieces. To compliment this, we decided on a sort of farmhouse style whitewashed bed.

You will notice there are dog crates in the room. The Mean Man asked if I wanted him to remove them before I took pictures. I explained to him that the beauty part of blogging, is that we are honest with each other. The important thing is that y’all see how we actually live, not how I want you to BELIEVE we live. So, we have dog crates in our bedroom, THREE dog crates.

And back to the decor part of the room.

We had a rug made to sort of anchor the room. We just chose a per square foot carpet and gave the carpet store our measurements and they made the rug. Easy, peasy- a custom rug that’s not so expensive. I purchased the bedding at Bed, Bath & Beyond. There are actually fewer pillows on this bed than I’ve used in the past. The blanket that you see serves two purposes. One is – how cute is that?? I just like how it makes the bed look finished. And two- our very large, very furry, VERY sheddy Golden Pyrenees, Max. He drags in mud, toys, and fur and his favorite place to be is on that bed. Purchasing a cream color comforter wasn’t necessarily the best choice for my big boy, but this blanket has helped keep it all clean.

I’m trying to turn the covers down for bed… he says no.

And now, on to the rest of our bedroom style.

I have a chair that I love. I had it reupholstered two years ago to match another bedding set. You can’t believe how comfy it is, so this means I cannot rid myself of this beauty. Pink is my color! Yes, that’s a pink nightstand next to that fabulous chair. As I often say, if you love it, then it’s right. Always surround yourself with things that you love, and don’t worry about what others think.

We have a couple of canvas prints on the wall as well as a big framed floral print. Over my headboard is the fabulous hanging mason jar wall art The Mean Man and I made a few weeks ago. LOVE IT!

The picture window is actually a window seat. It’s a great place to put all the pillows when the bedding is turned back at bedtime. We don’t sleep under the comforter or with any of the pillows on the bed. I try to protect those. Next to the fabulous chair is a basket with the pillows we sleep on and I have a blanket under the comforter that we sleep under.

Yes, that’s my vacuum cleaner right outside the door.

Bedroom Style

When it comes to your style, whatever style it is, make it your own, especially in your bedroom. This room, above all others in your home, should be the place where you feel the most comfort; the most peace.

Beautiful! Did you have to do anything special to get the sleep number bed to work with your new bed? I have the adjustable base one too(currently no headboard or footboard) and I was worried about getting a new bed for fear it couldn’t raise and lower well. Did you have to do anything special? Thanks!

Sydney- We actually just bought a traditional king size bed frame. We have a split king (so we have 2 twin adjustable bases). They fit great within the bed frame. There’s a small space around the perimeter of the bed and the adjustable base head and foot raises and lowers without hitting anything. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by! Blessings!
