It’s the most sparkly time of the year!

Christmas Mantel

I’ve been so slow to get my Christmas decor up and finished. Proudly, my mantle is done (after at least two re-dos). Having a fairly tall fireplace gives the opportunity for a nice tall focal point. I happen to have a tall mirror fashioned to look like a window (this was a part of my office decor at my former job). A pretty grapevine wreath with greenery and a big plaid bow is the perfect topper.

When creating your Christmas mantel decor, follow the usual “rules.” Start tall in the center and work your way down on each side (sort of in m case). I added a glittery reindeer, a tall wire vase filled with pretty, you guessed it, glittery Christmas balls, as well as Santa and a cute natural looking little pine tree. A lantern always works as mantel decor- so I added one! Flameless candles finish off the look.  Always remember, there are rules about design, but what you love outweighs any rules. Create what you love.

And what I love is sparkle!

I actually start my mantel decor with garland. In this case I’m using an evergreen garland I purchased at Hobby Lobby last year. It includes big pretty Christmas balls in red and silver, red holly berries (which I think screams Christmas), pine cones, and my favorite; twinkle lights.

I didn’t forget the most important part of any Christmas fireplace decor. Yes, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be there. Our stocking count has reached an all time high… 7. My daughter Ashten’s fiance will be her husband by Christmas and thus, he gets a stocking too. Of course he also gets a wedding for Christmas, so those stockings will be a little empty. The only stocking that will be full this year belongs to my little Emmaline.

Ok, I just threw in her pic because: cuteness.

Back to the Christmas mantel.

I hope your mantel is filled with things you love and gives you the same kind of warm and happy feelings that mine does for me. Most of all, I hope your Christmas is full of blessings!
