Hanging Mason Jars
If you haven’t noticed by now, I love easy projects! These hanging mason jars are cute and easy to make. We have a similar project that we made for our bedroom. That project used five Mason jars and was painted and not stained. Needless to say, this is a much, much easier project to tackle.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
1×8 white board
stain
polycrylic spray
decorative hook
picture hanger
jute twine
mason jar
silk flowers
The Process
Remember, you can cut the size of your wall hanging to any size you’d like. The width of the 1×8 board works perfectly. It’s not actually 8″ across, but it’s still called a 1×8.
We cut the board to 14″ long.
Be sure to sand your piece to get it nice and smooth. The Mean Man rounded the edges with an electric sander. This just gives the piece a pretty look.
I choose a fairly dark stain. The Mean Man painted the stain on with a foam brush and then wiped it off with a soft cloth. This gave great coverage and looked so pretty. To achieve a nice finish that’s able to be dusted, spray on a couple of coats of polycrylic after staining. Be sure to add some sort of picture hanger on the back of the wood piece so it can be hung on the wall.
The placement of your hook will depend on its size. I found the hooks I used at Hobby Lobby. We inverted the hook so it would have a high point from which to hang the jar.
The easiest jute I’ve found is a wired jute. This makes it to where you can just twist the wire instead of having to tie a tight knot.
Wrap the jute around the mouth of the jar and add a length of jute to be able to hang from the hook. Throw in some silk flowers or twinkle lights and you’ve got a pretty and easy wall decoration.
